Marvel Hair Jokes!

It's Inktober!

Or so I'm told. That's when you ink something (everyday?) in the month of October. Well, I didn't do that. However, I did recently come across a page I had penciled in the late 90's. (?) I then thought it would be fun for Fifty-Something Kerry to ink Thirty-Something Kerry. So I did it! Here's the result--

I didn't spend much time on the color. It's Inktober, not Colortober.

Oh! Here's the pencils. I just had a bad xerox copy.

Tigra and the Cucumber

I had the urge to draw a gif of this. So I did. :)

You know about cats and cucumbers, right?

Tigra vs. The Super Skrull!

Today, I have another cover appearing on Covered Blog. I did a recreation of a classic Jack Kirby cover (classic to me, at least)...

In my version, Tigra's getting ready to take action, but it may be too subtle. See my version below, or see it on Covered Blog. Click to enlarge...

Did you notice that Super Skrull's arm gets whiter as it stretches? ...just like some plastic does when you bend it. Yep. Doing things like this is how I amuse myself.

Tigra Strikes Again!

Even though it embarrasses my son, I decided to draw another Tigra cover. It can be seen here at Covered Blog, or right here below. Click on any image to enlarge.

It's my recreation of this original...

Here's my original ink drawing, if you like that kind of thing.

I'm attempting to keep Tigra covered.

Just for kicks, I decided to recreate another Tigra cover for Covered Blog. Here's all my covers. This time I picked Marvel Chillers #4. (The bonus is I also got to also draw Kraven!) (And yes, I consider that a bonus.)

Check out my version at the above mentioned coveredblog.blogspot.com, or merely look at it right below!

Something you can't see at Covered Blog, however, is my pre-sliced version...

The Tigra You Never Saw

I've admitted I'm a Tigra fan on this site. Apparently, in current Marvel continuity, she has been abused with all sorts of unfortunate circumstances. In the early 90's I had submitted a 6 page Tigra idea to What the..?. Marvel showed interest in it and then What the..? was canceled. End of that story. This was during the time period when John Byrne was doing She-Hulk and Tigra wasn't being used in any comic.

I find the ending of my proposed story a bit interesting, considering Tigra's current situations. Below are my old roughs, so judge them kindly. (Yes, I'm too lazy to actually draw the whole thing just for the benefit of my 8 readers. I did give the first panel, above, the finished treatment...) Click to enlarge.

The fourth panel below was supposed to be a boob joke.

I remember being disappointed in myself for making the obvious hairball joke, but I felt it was obligatory.

At the time, everyone was making Wolverine rip-offs, so I had to do one.

I've got Tigra covered.

If you've never checked out Covered Blog, it's an enjoyable site. Artists do their own interpretations of comic covers. Being the Tigra fan that I am, I decided to send one in. You can see it there here, or look at it below. Click to enlarge, if you like.

Here's the original 1975 cover by Howard Chaykin and Bernie Wrightson.

I've always wanted Tigra to be a fun-loving character whose cat-like curiosity gets her into interesting predicaments (including fighting monsters). I'm not sure what Marvel's take on her is. Bad-luck slut, maybe? I haven't truly kept up with what's happening with her lately. I suspect I don't want to know.

Halloween Comes Late

I'm somewhat a Tigra fan, so I made myself a post-Halloween Tigra Clock. Which, admittedly, isn't as cool as my Galactic clock. (However it was more of a pain to Photoshop away all the lettering. Yikes.)

Btw, do any of my four readers know who the artists were on this great 70's cover? I'm guessing it was penciled by Gil Kane, but I'm not sure about the inks. Tom Palmer? Klaus Janson maybe?

Marvelous Hair Jokes

I've been updating this new blog daily, just to jumpstart the content. I'll probably settle down into more of a twice weekly schedule. (I need time to work on a new comic project!) My first post involved leg shaving, so I thought it would be appropriate to end the daily posts with another one.

This is a page I did years ago. I can't remember if I submitted it to Marvel's "What If..." or "What the...?", but it never saw print and I never inked it. It's obviously still in pencil. I dropped in some flat color to add a bit to the clarity.

Btw, I'm a Tigra fan. Not ashamed of it. Nope.
