Don't I know you? Zombie Edition.

Hello. Maybe you've seen my "Happiness Is Fleeting" art somewhere on the internet. It's the sad zombie losing a red balloon (and his arm). It seems to have made the rounds--

And, maybe you've been reading my web comic, Dirtnap Tales. But, did you know my "Happiness" zombie makes a cameo on page 63, which posts today!

Your next steps are obvious--

If you've bought a Happiness Is Fleeting product from Threadless, you need to start reading my web comic.

If you're reading my web comic but have never bought my "Happiness" zombie from Threadless, you need to do that! They have tons of stuff; shirts, tote bags, mugs, phone cases, wall art, notebooks, bed sheets (yep), shower curtains (uh-huh) and a bunch of other things. Collect them all!

If you've already done both of these things-- Well, I tip my gratitude-hat to you sir and/or ma'am!!!

Captain Action Artwork

If my favorite childhood toys, I would have to say Captain Actions tops them all. It's the reason I was thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute artwork to the recently released Captain Action Card game! Click here to check it out!

Here's the cards I contributed artwork to--

And here's my original drawings--

Just for fun, I purposely drew CA's right hand in the same position it is on the doll action figure.

Lady Action!

In my head, Action Boy shoots his pistol and the recoil makes him disappear into the vastness of space.

I've also mentioned Captain Action in an older post. You can check the comic book that came with the original CA here! It's fun read!

A little Arnim Zola humor for your day.

Just because I wanted to draw it.

And if you're curious about my long form work, you can check out Dirtnap, my vampire/zombie/ghost web comic!

Super Antics #8

Even though I've recently started a new web comic, I can't stop myself from doing this kind of thing too--

My New Web Comic-- DIRTNAP!

I've stated before that I've been working on a monster comic for years now. It's true! I'm kicking it off as a web comic today! I've uploaded the first 10 pages and plan to post new pages every Tuesday and Thursday. Check it out at www.dirtnaptales.com.

It's a story of monsters, tragedy, adventure, and humor. It will run approximately 160 pages and along the way we'll encounter vampires, zombies, ghosts, werewolves, and maybe even a mermaid or two. I could tell you more, but I prefer to let the story unfold on its own.

I currently have over a 100 pages drawn. I've given myself a big buffer to ensure I can release two pages a week. Here's the first two--

Doctor Strange Gifs!

Pin-up from 1965's Strange Tales #128. I went a little insane animating this.

BONUS! My son, Kit, animated a different Ditko Dr. Strange background (from Strange Tales #138) using Google's Deep Dream Generator--

By the Name of the Dread Dormammu, that's creepy!

Marvel's Black Panther Gif

All longtime comic readers have certain notable panels that stick in their memories forever. I have several, and one of them is my first exposure to the Black Panther from 1975's Giant-Size Fantastic Four #5. I've taken the liberty of creating an animated gif of it. Yes, it's subtle, but it warms my heart. I was a kid when this was published (it was a reprint of Fantastic Four Annual #5 from 1967) and I've loved the character ever since. Here's the full page--

Oh Jack, you so Kirby! I reread it countless times. I didn't have many comics growing up. I'm super-excited to see BP on the big screen this Summer!

This issue also made me a fan of Black Bolt, and to a greatly lesser degree, Psycho-Man.

Number 5

Halo and Sprocket #5 hit Comixology this week!

Since it contains portions of material from my 2008 Halo and Sprocket: Natural Creations TP, I had the chance to draw a new cover. It was fun to draw the characters again!

Consider giving it a shot. It's the only place you can see the color version of BIG CAT PUNS!

Crap. Not the only place. I just posted it here.

Tigra and the Cucumber

I had the urge to draw a gif of this. So I did. :)

You know about cats and cucumbers, right?

Art! Science! Cats!

Halo and Sprocket #4 is now on Comixology. It came out several days ago, but I haven't had the chance to post about it. Katie, Halo, and Sprocket go to an art show. It was a fan favorite when it was originally printed in black & white many years ago. It's now in color and I've got to say I love it.

Here's a few panels. It's like a MINI ART GALLERY--!

This issue also has SCIENCE!

And CATS!

Go buy it now! I'll be glad you did.

PS - This post is a little late because we've been replacing our carpet with wood floors.

PPS - Our dog doesn't like it.
