It sounded really fun to animate some Kirby Tech! A lot of my blog work is sincere adoration to classic comics, and this is one of them. I started with a cropped splash page from Fantastic Four #64. I thought about removing the dialog, but it's so classic Stan Lee/Jack Kirby, it had to stay.
It makes you wish Disney would make a straight-up Kirby-inspired FF CG movie, doesn't it?

Bravo! I personally don't know Robert Samben either, but I'd like to shake that guy's hand for making such a good suggestion. Couldn't have made a better one myself!
I've always felt The Incredibles was as close to a Kirby CGI film as we're ever likely to see. Sure, the individual characters may be different, but that's almost irrelevant -- the overall mood and feeling of the film was closer to the original FF than anything Marvel/Disney/Fox would do onscreen with the actual team.
Oh no! I wrote Samben, instead of Bensam! I swear I'm sometimes lexdysic. Sorry Robert. I guess that proves I don't know you. :)
I fixed it. That's for the Kirbytech suggestion!
Holy cow. This is AMAZING! Love it!
Dang! In my reply to Richard, I meant to say, "THANKS for the Kirbytech suggestion!" not "That's".
Wow, it just shows that staring at Kirby's genius too long will mess with your mind...
Nicely done! One of the cool things about the original Marvel cartoons (shot from the original comics with some limited animation added) was seeing work by Kirby, Ditko and others on the screen.
Amazing! All these years, I never saw that tech as moving machines. MInd = blown. Thanks for the paradigm shift!
I love this blog. Your illustrations are amazing.
(esp Superman Antics. )
