Marvel Hair Jokes!

It's Inktober!

Or so I'm told. That's when you ink something (everyday?) in the month of October. Well, I didn't do that. However, I did recently come across a page I had penciled in the late 90's. (?) I then thought it would be fun for Fifty-Something Kerry to ink Thirty-Something Kerry. So I did it! Here's the result--

I didn't spend much time on the color. It's Inktober, not Colortober.

Oh! Here's the pencils. I just had a bad xerox copy.

Jack Kirby Spider-Man Pin-up!

Today would have been Jack Kirby's 100th birthday. I wanted to honor his memory. But how?

I've always been a bit fascinated in how he drew Spider-Man. He didn't do very often and it's very different than other artist's interpretations. I actually keep a folder on my computer with images I've found of Kirby's Spider-Man art. So today, I took one of his penciled images, ink and colored it to look like an old Marvel Masterworks pin-up as a tribute, seen above.

1,000,000 BC Ghost Rider

Anyone remember when I did some fake "What if DC Published Marvel Characters" cover art? I thought I was being silly drawing a caveman version of Ghost Rider.

But now Marvel is coming out with a 1,000,000 BC Ghost Rider!

So now I feel silly for trying to be silly.

As I drew this, I started wondering, "Who was the first person to hide behind their own cape? "Dracula? The Shadow? Bull fighters? Is it a cliche from ancient times? Anybody out there know anything about it?
